Dangers in Altering your System Set-upWe have had three recent situations where the background set-up of the operating systems and or hardware had been altered or changed that led to Dawn AC producing erroneous patient information. Fortunately, with the usual Dawn AC user vigilance and manual checking processes, the problems were picked up before any harm was done. Interfaces to other systems and moving Dawn AC files to different folder locations, and changing printer settings in a planned or unplanned way are examples of such changes. In some cases the users of Dawn AC were unaware that the changes had been made. The safe operation of Dawn AC depends on these background settings. To make any change, we recommend that the system is thoroughly tested first before live use and increased checking vigilance is applied for several days following such a change. Please feel free to contact our support desk, as they are always at hand to discuss the impact of such planned changes. Finally, a particular note to Book Printer users, please check that your Book Printer Driver buffer is disabled, safe operation of the Book Printer depends on this. If you need help call us. I have great pleasure in announcing the launch of Dawn AC Version 7, a web based system. Dawn AC has been completely redesigned to provide users with a 'shared care' environment in which all stakeholders in anticoagulation care can share the patient information over an intranet or the Internet. For example, primary care physicians, hospital and medical centre staff, retail pharmacies and dentists can access information on patients under their care. The system has been completely and carefully redesigned, using advanced design methodologies, for the frequent user. It has a patent pending colour coding system and display to give an outstandingly easy to use, comprehensive and safe interface. It continues to be based on the proven proprietary Dawn AC dosage adjustment algorithm. The system is highly configurable so that customers achieve the highest levels of fitness of purpose to meet their local practice. The system is based on Microsoft's powerful SQLServer database and works with most common browsers to give outstanding response time performance and reliability. It has the capacity to handle district-wide, regional or even national systems. The system will be released in phases over the next 12 months. Release 1, is available in the coming weeks for selected customers and prospects with matching release 1 functionality. This release will have individual patient management and give a new powerful 'list view' to filter down the sets of patients of your particular interest. The system will be on display at the International Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, Sydney, Australia, 8th to 11th August 2005 on Booth 502 and in detail at our User Group Meeting in November. For more information please contact us. GP Reporting PackageWe are pleased to announce that there is a new module available free of charge to GP Practices running the Practitioner version of Dawn AC. The module is called the GP Reporting Package and will enable GPs to produce audit and analysis reports summarising the status of their anticoagulation service. Using the reports GPs can demonstrate their fulfilment of the GP contracts on anticoagulation. If you would like to take advantage of this new module, please call the support desk on 015395 63091 to request that the installation materials get sent out to you.
