Benchmarking Service: How to Improve Your % Time in Range Results

For those participate in the Benchmarking service you should have received your latest report.

Please also see the PowerPoint Presentation from the recent User Group on our website. This presentation described how on analysis of the benchmarking members results, certain factors were able to explain the difference between top performing centres and poor performing centres. The main loss of performance came from allowing patients to run below range.

Three actions are suggested

  1. For very stable patients extend the interval length to the next test e.g. say from 4 weeks to 5 weeks, 5 weeks to 6 weeks

  2. For patients out of range, keep the interval to the next test as short as as possible.

  3. Change the dose (especially below range) as and when the computer suggests unless you have very good reasons not to. Use the latest Dawn AC Settings

Improving the Stability of Dawn AC running on a Windows 2000 Server

Over the last year some Dawn AC customers have reported problems with the stability of their Dawn AC systems running on Windows 2000 servers.  The problems have manifested themselves in a number of different ways (including "freezing" of the system and notes field corruptions).  The problems tend to have been experienced by sites that have many users accessing a networked Dawn AC system at the same time.

Investigations have indicated that stability issues can be caused by some detailed parameter settings within the core of the Windows server that is used to run Dawn AC.  By changing these parameters most sites have noted a significant improvement in the stability of the system.

Please note that this area is very complex and can have far-ranging impacts.  Whether or not it is appropriate to change these settings for your individual site must be assessed by your own IT department.  If you are a multi-user site, running on a Windows 2000 server and you frequently experience system instability, please get your IT department to contact us to discuss if you could benefit by amending these parameters.
