The primary focus of our Benchmarking Service is to provide a forum for benchmarking of pertinent operational and clinical performance or outcome measures indicators to support and enhance the clinical practice of each member organisation.

It enables your organization to identify areas for improvement and provide a means of continuously monitoring progress in these areas.

We currently administer a service involving over 30 indicators with over 200,000 patients and some 1,610,000 base measurements each six month period.  We operate an ISO 9001 accredited quality management system for the design, development, and support of medical database systems.

The data we collect is patient anonymous. We are registered as a Data Bureau with the UK Data Protection Registrar.

Benefits of the Benchmarking Service

·      Easy production of statistics that are otherwise time-consuming and complex to produce.

·      Enables comparison of performance with other sites

With the site's permission, issues such as patient education and methods of giving dosage instruction will be reviewed and if possible guidelines for best practice produced.

 Reports produced include

·   a comparison of your site to a summary of all sites participating in a particular run plus the sites with best and worst performance

·   a review of your site’s performance through the weeks of a patient’s treatment

·   a comparison for your site with previous runs (assuming you have participated in prior data collections).

Including the statistics for:

·    Number of patients and INRs for that range/time period

·    % time in, above and below range using the Rosendaal method

·    % INRs within 0.5 and 0.75 units of the target INR as discussed in the third edition of  the Guidelines on Oral Anticoagulation (Haemostasis and Thrombosis Task Force)

Dawn AC Benchmarking Service

Our benchmarking service for Dawn AC, has been running for over six years.

·       Over 80 registered sites

·       Over 227,000 patients in the latest run

·       Over 1,760,000 INRs in the latest run

·       Currently incorporates over 30 parameters profiling a site’s performance

·       Covers four therapeutic ranges used for 97% of all patients

How to Participate in the Benchmarking Service

Data collection occurs twice a year, covering the periods periods 1^st May ~ 31^st October and 1^st November ~ 30^th April.
